We gathered at the usual time and place. Some few members drifted in later than appropriate, but Ned had served up some excellent Brisket which went down easily and quickly so we weren’t greatly delayed in our start.
The evening began with a bit of a rewind. In the between sessions interim, we examined healing rules again and found some room for reconsideration of events immediately after the confrontation with the being on the bridge of the Carl Sagan. Lt. Bint was injected with BIofoam to save his leg, and an additional few minor alterations were made to the timeline. Gunnar spent a bit of time hacking on the Matriarch 13 and recovered a few more pertinent details (which he was actually absent to receive).
Soon, however, the team drug themselves and their wounded aboard the Carl Sagan’s shuttle and returned to the Romulus. They left behind Nicola Dietrich (in cryosleep), numerous samples and artifacts from the surface of CS-402 and several deceased crew members of the ill-fated expedition.
After some hours of recovery in the tissue-knitter, LT. Bint put together a landing party and headed down to the planet surface. There are some excellent after action reports written by the participants that describe what happened next.
Overall, the evening was hard on the ICMC.
2nd Lt. Dendrich Bint
Cpl John Quill
PFC Dickie Lee Munch
Pte Miles Davis
Pte Bronislav Galerkin
Leroy Williams (PsiCorps)
Support Role (Dropship Pilot):
WO Alfonso Aviz
We ended the (overly late) evening as Galerkin and Williams dragged their wounded and bleeding forms up the Kara’s assault ramp. Aviz punched the lifters and yanked back on the yoke as the ship roared skyward and away from the frozen research base.
As soon as reports are filed by Galerkin, Williams, and Aviz, the authorities (ICMC, Cenargo, etc..) are likely to begin some very intense debriefing. Things you imagine they’ll be wanting to know:
An estimate of how many “surviving” xenomorphs remain in temple complex
More information on each particular xenomorph discovered…
Why were remains of deceased friendlies not retrieved or secured?
Where is Dr. Jane Goodbody (female survivor from escape pod)?
Where is Dr. Nicola Dietrich (found in cryosleep aboard Carl Sagan w/o brain activity)?
Where are various alien artifacts and archaeological fragments?
Did any member of the ICMC platoon obtain or recover any material from the Carl Sagan, the EEV, the research base, or the dig itself?
After the inevitable debriefing – what happens next? Will the site be nuked from orbit? What is the fate of 1st Platoon? Who’ll be the next Lieutenant and how will you guys fit in with a bunch of ordinary jar heads who’ve never seen ‘the shit’ like you have?
